Since the release of the first 4000 consoles, the Bus Compressor has certainly represented what for over 40 years has identified Solid State Logic as one of the most important references in professional audio.

With the introduction of the new The Bus +, SSL introduces a new concept of compressor where versatility and sound quality perfectly match the needs of modern-day studio productions.

After 2 years of engineering, SSL presents in a new two-unit rack format, a stereo, full analogue, digitally controlled compressor.

One of the most interesting features of this compressor is the possibility to choose between 3 timbral modes: 4K, Feed Back and Low Thd, each allowing a variety of operational and harmonic solutions, making The Bus + suitable for any environment, be it tracking, mixing or mastering.

The addition of a dynamic two-band EQ provides additional sonic nuance and control. Many technicians are familiar with dynamic EQ plug-ins within the DAW, but analogue dynamic EQs are few and far between. A dynamic EQ is a more “intelligent” form of EQ that changes the gain of an EQ band proportionally in response to the level of the input signal. The D-EQ is built on a specially adapted version of the Bus Compressor’s side-chain circuit, which contributes significantly to its powerful, yet musical sonic character. Being able to use the D-EQ in combination with the Bus Compressor makes for some very interesting dynamic and tonal options.
